In what has been a somewhat bsy offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles, the team has decided to part ways with star and pro bowler DeSean Jackson.
Right after Jackson was released, many reports started to pop up, saying that the wide receiver was released because he had friends or was affiliated with crips from the Los Angeles area. Jackson immediately said that he was not a gang member and seemingly shot down any rumblings that the story might be true.
There have been a few occasions on the field when Jackson can be seen flashing gang signs. He did so against the Washington Redskins and DeAngelo Hall last season. There are also multiple pictures on instagram where the receiver is seen flashing more gang signs.
The LAPD has come out and said that Jackson has no connection to any gang related activities that are currently being investigated, but an associate of his is.
In my opinion, this is just a case of not watching out who you hang out with. Why put yourself in the position to begin with? Leave any off the field activity off the field and don’t post any pictures on the internet that can hurt you. You know as a professional athlete that everyone is watching.
This is a messy situation but Jackson will be with another team soon. He is too talented to not give him a chance. And for the Eagles, they might have mad the right decision in the long run, but right now, they better pray that this isn’t all bs and that they released him without needing to do so.
