According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks are in talks to make a deal that would send Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Mavericks in exchange for Samuel Dalembert, Jose Calderon, Wayne Ellington, and Shane Larkin.
Usually these trade rumors end up with nothing happening, but you know how the saying goes… usually where there is smoke, there is fire.
In most cases, this would be a good trade because it’s a handful of players for just two but in the case of this trade, it kind of makes no sense. Sure, the Knicks get to unload the contract of Raymond Felton who has been inconsistent in his with the Knicks, and they also get rid of the big contract of Tyson Chandler. But They get back a couple of players in Calderon and Dalembert who to be honest, are at the end of their careers and they also get Larkin, and Ellington, who have not really had an impact on their respective teams.
The only thing that would be a positive thing about this deal is that they free up some cap space.
Stay tuned for more.
UPDATE: The trade has been completed. The Knicks have traded Chandler and Felton for Dalembert, Calderon, Larkin, Ellington, and the 34th and 51st picks in the 2014 NBA Draft.
